Leon was born and raised in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Like most, from toddler-hood he'd watch his father when he would play poker with his friends when they came over. His lessons in observation began there, learning how to bluff, gamble, and catch other people's tells while trying to keep himself from having one. His father would use him to know what the other people's cards were by sending the boy around to 'refresh' the other players' drinks and snacks. Those skills came in handy later when his mutant abilities allowed him to switch the suits of the cards he'd been dealt and how to count cards.

He had always been a vain person knowing that he was good looking. It would have been hard not to with everyone always telling him as well as his parents ever since he was a toddler. He'd never outgrew the self-interest and that the world revolved around him. If it didn't involve or effect him, he didn't much care. The only exception was Sacha and later Jocelyn. His view of the world might have been from the way he saw his father act and how he treated the Leon's mother. It didn't mean that it was the only influence on his life. Leon quite liked his Great Uncle Jules even though technically he wasn't his uncle. The man taught Leon how to swim, fish, and many other things. He could talk to the man about anything. That was why when Leon was nine he was torn up when told Jules had died. He'd been adamant about going to the funeral and his mother caved, knowing he was going whether permitted or not. Sacha already tagging after his brother wanted to go too. Ernestine had capitulated because Sacha would have screamed and cried having a fit until he'd worn himself out if denied.

While Leon was annoyed with Sacha always following him and wanting to do whatever he did, he still loved his baby brother and was the only one he truly felt protective of. That was one of the reasons that Leon only ever gave a token protest when it came to watching his brother. It had been a typical day when Leon's whole world tilted on it's axis. He and Sacha had been playing by the river and had seen an old warehouse type thing by the docks. They had gone to explore it much like they did anything that caught their interests. It had seemed safe enough until Sacha had gone through a soft patch that had wood rot. Leon swore he nearly had a heart attack hearing his brother scream and disappear suddenly. When he got to the hole, he'd seen Sacha's crumpled body on the rocks and didn't like the red he saw before the water washed it away. In his anxiety he hadn't realized that his mutant gene activated. That when he'd scrambled to find some rope to tie off to haul himself down, that he'd made the weak rope much stronger. After he'd lowered himself down, he'd checked and had been both scared and relieved when Sacha had moaned. Leon had carried his brother home and not knowing what else to do, had done what he could to clean the wound and given his brother painkillers. Sacha never woke up, their parents blamed Leon and the twelve year old had been shaken severely.

Leon had ran away to Dodi's where he spent months with the old woman who was more than willing to house him while he grieved. She had accompanied him to Sacha's funeral where his father had made a scene and caused everyone to realize that Leon was a mutant. The woman tried to help Leon learn how to harness and realize the extent of his abilities. She never told the preteen that she herself was a very low lever precog mutant. When the boy had started using his abilities to cheat at cards and scam people, he realized that he would never have to worry about money again. He could change the number on the bills to make them higher. It was Dodi who had told him it was time to go and that she couldn't house him while he decided to live like a criminal. What he hadn't known was that one of the old woman's 'hunches' was telling her that the boy needed to go. That didn't stop her from worrying about him. Leon would refuse to use his abilities to help his parents all instead using any money he made to hole up in motels and the like living on his own until he was approached by first the Brotherhood whom he turned down, then the X-Men. The only reason he'd gone with the latter group was that it would be a place he could ply his trade without having to fear being arrested.

Then he'd met Jocelyn Merdalos and his views changed as he got to know her. They began a relationship that held strong for three years. Right as she turned eighteen when they were able to move in together officially, disaster struck. She had been kidnapped and had her powers taken as her soul was forcibly pulled out of her body and into another. Not waiting for approval, when her presence was detected three days later, Leon took matters into his own hands to get his lover back. Now they are trying to wade through the changes together.

Before Dodi was a Doucette she was a Duplantier; an aristocratic family and expected to marry whom her parents wished. They had already mapped her life out for her and expected her to follow it. Instead she was cast out when she ran away having a torrid affair with Hugo Doucette. They never had any children but they had had a handful of years together before his death from a car crash. Dodi kept in touch with her husband's family though some of the family wanted nothing to do with her when the scandal of her new husband became known when not only had she married another commoner but one of color. This time she did have a child and the couple had rejoiced and loved her dearly. They were very proud when Eliza graduated from high school and had been accepted to Stanford University. Tragedy struck them however in the form of their daughter having heart problems and dying quite young. Years later Jules died from cancer with only Leon, Sacha, and their mother the only members of the Doucette family to attend the funeral. Leon would still occasionally come over to her home when he could and it was to her that he fled after Sacha had died. It was also Dodi who had given him some advice and had told him to practice his ability as well as hide it if he could for as long as he could.

While Jules wasn't related by marriage or blood to the Doucette family he still treated Leon as a favored grandson which the boy appreciated. It was from Jules that Leon got a lot of his advice and whom he looked up towards a role model. They had spent time fishing and learning 'life lessons everyone needs to know'. He was the only one who could get the boy motivated and might have been the only one who if he hadn't died early, been able to keep Leon from becoming so self-centered and apathetic towards the world.

Isabelle had been nineteen when she'd met Rene while she was at Tulane University. Rene had been working as a campus security officer. They were married hardly a year later with a baby on the way causing Isabelle to drop out of college. She made money by becoming a seamstress while Rene who'd lost his scholarship after blowing his knee from a football injury kept his job as a security officer before becoming a full fledged police officer. It wasn't until he'd been shot and wounded badly that he reluctantly went back to security for the his wife's mental health. Neither had been pleased when they learned that their daughter had at seventeen gotten pregnant. She didn't want to press chargers even though her parents wanted her to because Beau was twenty-two. Instead they ended up with a shot-gun wedding. Beau's parents washed their hands of their son after that and never said anything about the grandchildren other than having a 'wait and see' policy. Likely to see if they fell far from the tree as they believed Beau had. Isabelle and Rene try to be in their grandchildren's lives but with Beau's attitude and Isabelle not wanting to upset her husband it wasn't as often as they should have been.

Beauregard didn't want to plays sports so never endeavored to get a scholarship. When he'd graduated, he ended up getting hired on a part time mechanic at a friend's garage. It wasn't until he'd ended up being forced to marry that he decided to get a better paying a job hiring at a local casino as a card dealer. He had said it suited him more than being a mechanic ever had. He wasn't very close to either of his sons but disliked that Leon would look more towards Jules as a father figure than his own. He might have been able to take him looking up to Rene but that never happened. He didn't like feeling inferior as if he didn't know how to raise his own children. And it irritated him that Sacha had begun to tag along after Leon and would give more weight to whatever his brother said then his own father! His drinking only got worse after Sacha's death. Biased, he didn't like mutants but had been willing to overlook the fact if his son used his skills to help the family, but Leon had refused, so Beau had told Leon to leave. He blamed Ernestine saying that Leon must have inherited the gene through her.

Ernestine while she'd had a good upbringing still longed for a boyfriend and love of her own. She had met Beau at a party and ignored all the warnings about staying way from 'that Doucette boy'. She would never admit that was part of his allure as well as being older. Ernestine preferred older males than to the juvenile boys her own age. It ended up getting her in trouble when she let him talk her into sleeping with him. She became pregnant and had to drop out of school. Her parents forced Beau into marrying her; something she had never forgiven them for. She loved her children but she also loved her husband and didn't want to anger Beau and didn't think anyone else would want her after having first one child then another. When Sacha died, a part of her died as well. She didn't know her older son anymore if she had at all and didn't refute her husband's claim that this was all her fault.
