Annabeth had decided since she didn't have anything better to do so she decided she'd go hang out at Fireworks Beach. She just wore shorts, a t-shirt, and her yankees cap. Annabeth had her hair pulled up in a ponytail as she walked. When she came to the beach she smiled, no one else was around so she could just sit and relax.

Annabeth didn't have any training to do for another couple hours. She trained and trained all the time, to get stronger, better, wiser. But, just for a while, she wanted to relax and spend a few minutes basking in the sunlight until she had to train again.

Roy had hardly spent a week at Camp Halfblood before realizing that it would be more of the same thing all over again: finding ways to entertain himself, running, and a lack of social activity.  It wasn't that he minded it, in fact he was entirely used to it, but he had hoped to experience something different in a new place such as the camp.  To keep his mind off of the disappointing situation, he took up running more often, typically along the edge of the barrier, or at least as close as he could safely get.

Today was one of those days when his thoughts wandered out of his control, so he headed out to run along the coast of the lake, dressed in loose clothing.  He had already been running for quite some time, having risen early, and he was nearing Fireworks Beach.  A small part of Roy wanted to go around the area to avoid any potential social encounters, but another part of him persuaded the demigod to stick on the path and cross the beach, perhaps even take a rest there since he was feeling slightly fatigued.

Of course, it was just his luck that someone was there, a girl no less, but at least she was alone.  With further thinking, however, he realized that if she was the type to start up conversations then he was bound to be caught up in one.  He groaned, almost deciding against stopping at the beach.  In the end he slowed to a walk a decent ways away from the girl, whom he recognized from around the camp but did not know personally.

Annie was just basking in the sun light, having a good time relaxing, when she heard someones footsteps. It sounded like someone was jogging close by, she opened one eye and turned her head to see who it was. It was a guy she had seen around the camp, she closed her eye and just laid there.

She heard his jogging slow and turn into a walk and she sat up and saw he was walking a good distance away from her. Annie shrugged inwardly, maybe he just wasn't social? She didn't know. She waved politely at him as she sat and watched the water move slightly from the big gust of wind, she had taken her hat off and set it down next to her when the gust of wind had come. Her yankee's cap got swept away and she got up and began to chase after it as it was getting close to the water. " No my hat." She groaned as she chased after it.

Roy knew from the second the girl moved that she had noticed him, perhaps his footsteps or movement had drawn her attention to him, though it was not as if he was attempting to be stealthy.  In fact, the very opposite could be said: in a way he was acting to gain attention, if only subconsciously.  As she sat up Roy directed his gaze toward her for a moment, catching her wave and raising a hand to wave back slightly.

Continuing to walk, Roy turned back to look at the water, at least until the girl began to chase after something.  A moment later he realized that it was her hat, one she obviously cared about because otherwise she probably wouldn't have run after it.  Since he was closer to the water than she--the waves coming so close to hitting his shoes--he caught the hat and held it out for the girl to take, offering a singular word. "Here."

Annie couldn't believe her hat had flown off her head! She grumbled as she chased after it, she saw the boy catch it before it hit the water and she smiled as she came up to him. " Thanks. I thought it was a goner." She said as she took her hat back and put it on her head, she pulled her ponytail through the back. " I'm Annabeth by the way." She introduced herself politely.

" I've seen you around here, are you new?" She asked him curiously, she knew that Camp Half-Blood was getting tons of people now a days. So she just wanted to see if he was a newbie or had been here a while and she just didn't remember his name.

Roy had the itching feeling that he should know the girl, though maybe she was simply around places he frequented. He listened to her words, giving a polite smile and introducing himself in turn. "Roy, nice to meet you, Annabeth." If he had been the one to introduce himself first then he most likely would have offered his hand to shake, but he left it up to her instead.

"Relatively new, yeah," he nodded, confirming her question, "I've been here for about two weeks." If he were to be terribly honest with her then he would admit to this being among the longest conversations he's had since arriving at the camp, but there was no reason to make light of his social failure.

Annie smiled and held out her hand to him. " Nice to meet you, Roy." She said as she shook his hand. " Oh. I've seen you around camp, you're like most of the demi-gods here, unclaimed right?" She asked pretty bluntly, when he said how long he'd been there she nodded. " Welcome to Camp Half-Blood, I've been here for years." She told him as she looked out at the water.

Annie looked at him. " Like it here so far?" She asked curiously. She wasn't sure of this place when she had first come, but she actually liked it and the camp had become her home. The people there were kind of like her family, even if she wouldn't admit to it.

Roy politely shook her hand, the appendage dropping back to his side once the gesture had finished.  At least the people there were courteous, if only the supervisors and a few demigods.  The prospect of being like most of the other campers was a bit demeaning, since it meant that he was hardly notable as a person, though as far as being unclaimed he had no qualms with it due to his lack of attachments to his parents, alive or not. "Yeah," he nodded slightly, both confirming her assumption and accepting her welcome.

Her words drew a thought in Roy's mind, What a loaded question.  As he had no knowledge of whether Annabeth would be defensive of her home, he took the safe road and avoided insulting the camp. "It's better than home, and safer." He made no further revelation about his former home situation, feeling that it would be unnecessary unless she questioned him about it.  He was no more private about his past than anything else about him, though that was not saying much since he was commonly very private.

For Roy, the camp was no different when compared to his former home with Mr. Ackerman, seeing as there was a clear lack of social interaction as far as his experience went.  The only aspect in which it was better than home was the fact that it held the chance of him finding out who one of his parents was, though he guessed that would take some amount of time.

Annie let her hand drop to her side when they finished shaking hands. She noticed he seemed to be in thought and just stayed silent. She nodded a bit. " Well don't feel bad. A lot of people aren't claimed, but sooner or later their godly parent claims them. So you'll find out who your godly mom or godly dad is." She said with a small smile, she didn't really remember how she found out her mother was the goddess Athena. She never really thought about it much though either.

Annie nodded as she listened to Roy. " Same with me, this place is the closest thing to a home that I have." She said, she had runaway from her home when she was only 7 years old, her step mother and half siblings didn't care much for her and vice versa. She didn't like to reveal much about herself to people she didn't know, so Annie kept it ambiguous for now.

Annie looked at him and he seemed to be lost in thought again, she smiled softly. " You're an introverted person." She said not unkindly, she could be an introvert sometimes, she was more ambivert. Jupiter, a girl she had met who'd only been at Camp Half-Blood a month or so, was an introverted person until you got to know her. She looked at the lake again.
